Was Ashton Kutcher Making Fun of Country Music at Country Awards Show?
Ashton Kutcher, who appeared at the 47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday night (April 1), seems to have done more harm than good in his attempt to introduce himself to the country community.
He was there to present the award for Female Vocalist of the Year and, while wearing a 10-gallon hat and a country-western themed jacket, gave the award to Miranda Lambert while half-assedly attempting to sing George Strait's "I Cross My Heart." The whole thing seemed pretty disingenuous.
The next day, Miranda Lambert, who is known for her loose tongue on Twitter, tweeted, "Was Ashton Kutcher making fun of country or is it just me? Watching it back now and I'm kinda wondering?"
Ashton Kutcher replied, "@Miranda_Lambert I Am One Of The biggest country Music fans you've ever met. Wasn't making fun at all." Miranda Lambert has not responded.
Country singer Justin Moore also tweeted, "Seen Ashton kutcher at the acms tonight. What a douche! I don't care for people making a mockery of the way country artists' dress."
Beyond that, US Weekly reported that Ashton Kutcher made no attempt to get along with people in the audience. One showgoer said, "People were just like 'why is he here?' He has nothing to do with country. Nobody laughed at his dumb jokes, in fact he came off as rude. He didn't mingle."
Wow. Do you think Ashton Kutcher was making fun of country with his appearance at the ACMs? Let us know in the comments!
