Beck Teams With Jack White For New Single!
In my Sasquatch must-see post, I speculated/hoped that Beck's return to the stage at this weekend's fest in the west would be a sign of his imminent return to releasing new music as well. I was right. The boho rocker has teamed with Jack White to release a new single on White's Nashville-based Third Man Records. This is most definitely good news.
The "I Just Started Hating Some People Today"/"Blue Randy" single drops May 28 (a limited run of 100 tricolor 7"s will be available at Randy's Records in Salt Lake City on June 2. 50 more will also be "randomly inserted in mail orders for the single placed with Third Man Records"). Both tracks were recorded last year when Beck was working on material for an upcoming album in Nashville. Jack White produces and contributes drums, acoustic guitar, background vocals and "punk vocals" on "I Just Started Hating Some People Today," and plays drums on "Blue Randy." You can hear snippets of each song right here. They both have a country-punk feel, like Beck's earlier work on 1994's Mellow Gold.
What do you think of the tracks? Should these two team up for a full-length album?
