From the Vault: Warped Tour Volunteer Day

On June 29, 2006, the Vans Warped Tour dedicated a day off to performing a massive volunteer mission, with crew members and bands including Rise Against, Paramore, Every Time I Die, Anti-Flag, Against Me!, NOFX, Armor for Sleep, The Bouncing Souls, Aiden, Gym Class Heroes, and Plain White T’s descending on Cameron Parish, Louisiana to help clean up the destruction done the previous year by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Fuse had cameras on the ground for this incredibly moving day of service, capturing moments running the entire emotional gamut from both the participants and the recipients of their volunteerism. The footage was not forgotten, but was thought lost for years. We unearthed this amazing material while researching From the Vault, and knew immediately that it deserved to be seen. Six years later, we’re thrilled to share it with you.

This piece gives a band’s eye view of the entire cleanup day from start to finish, and below, you'll find a companion piece comprised of interview outtakes with the bands referenced above reflecting on the day’s events. We think they are touching testimonials to the power of the punk rock community and of the human spirit. We’re sure you’ll agree!
