Update: According to the Hollywood Reporter, Katherine Jackson is safe and with her daughter Rebbie in Arizona.
The strange story of the Jackson family keeps getting weirder, with factions squabbling over the location and safety of Michael Jackson's mother, Katherine. Late Saturday night, the Jackson matriarch was reported missing to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department by her nephew Trent.
And on Sunday morning, Paris Jackson, Michael's 14-year-old daughter, sent out frantic tweets asking for help in finding her grandmother.
But police have confirmed that Katherine isn't missing. She's just with different family members.
Here's a week's worth of behind-the-scenes backstory: Katherine's lawyer Sandra Ribera tells CNN that the matriarch attended a Jacksons concert last Tuesday, July 17. Afterwards, when Paris called her two aunts, including Janet, she was told each time she could not speak to Katherine. That has one side of the family worried, because Paris usually speaks with Katherine daily.
"The kids were trying to get a hold of their grandmother and they haven't been able to reach her for almost a week," Ribera said. "They are told she's unavailable. I'm concerned that she's not safe."
Meanwhile, the other side of the family claims that Katherine is recuperating in Arizona after having a mini-stroke. Quoth Jermaine Jackson:
This has been one of the strangest stretches for the Jackson family since Michael's death in 2009. Earlier this week, members of the King of Pop's family questioned the authenticity of MJ's will. On Wednesday, five of Katherine's children, including Janet, accused Katherine's handlers of "mistreating" and "misadvising" her.
And it continues this weekend with one final accusation from Paris.
Lately, the Jacksons have been just saying a lot of things. We'll keep tracking the story as it develops.
