Drake, Rihanna, Katy Perry Lead VMA Nominations
When Drake recently said he was the "first person to successfully rap and sing," he may have been on to something. At least the people at MTV think so. The Canadian rapper/crooner is leading the pack for 2012 VMA nominations alongside his one-time fling Rihanna, both vying for five Moon Men each.
Last year's champion, Katy Perry, isn't far behind this year with four nominations, while Beyoncé, Coldplay, Frank Ocean, M.I.A. and Kanye West & Jay-Z (for The Throne) each scored three nods. Of course, it wouldn't be the 2012 VMAs if two of the biggest songs of the year weren't in there somewhere: Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" scored her a Best New Artist nomination and Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know" is up for Best Editing and Video Of The Year. Honorable mention: EDM! The genre is finally getting its own category; Skrillex, Calvin Harris and Avicii are among the contenders.
Check out the full list of nominees below, and let us know who you're rooting for in the comments.
