Listen: No Doubt's Diplo-Produced Dancehall Jam, "Push and Shove"
Like Gwen Stefani's perma-toned, forever-21 body, No Doubt's reggae-punk-dancehall-ska fusion of a sound preserves like a fine, fine, fine wine. No, really. About a month after the first taste of their upcoming comeback album, the Los Angeles quartet have just dropped the second song (and title track) from Push and Shove (out September 25 via Interscope). Predictably, it's a dancehall banger in the vein of their 2001 album, Rock Steady, and that's a very, very good thing. Listen above.
Released via Ryan Seacrest's morning radio show, "Push and Shove" is an upbeat jam produced by Diplo, the man behind Major Lazer, who, it should be noted, couldn't be a more fitting producer for No Doubt's big return. He brings out the band's quirky, left-of-center flavor while still crafting this tune for the top of the charts. Props much deserved.
