Bruce Springsteen Pens Letter Supporting Obama
In the past week, Bruce Springsteen has officially gone from "Yeah, we assume you support Barack Obama" to full-on supporter, as the Boss released an open letter on his website urging fans to re-elect The Boss of the United States.
After Springsteen announced that he'll be performing at rallies in Ohio and Iowa, the singer wrote on his site that he'd "been getting asked a lot about where I stand" from, presumably, people that have never heard a single Bruce Springsteen song.
After extolling Obama's record on foreign affairs and claiming that "the opposition’s resort to voter suppression in so many states is not receiving as much attention as it deserves," Springsteen lays out his argument for re-election:
"Right now, we need a President who has a vision that includes all of our citizens, not just some, whether they are our devastated poor, our pressured middle class, and yes, the wealthy too; whether they are male or female, black, white, brown, or yellow, straight or gay, civilian or military.
"Right now, there is a choice going on in America, and I’m happy that we live in a country where we all participate in that process. For me, President Obama is our best choice because he has a vision of the United States as a place where we are all in this together."
While getting the crucial Honey Boo Boo endorsement probably makes Springsteen's support moot, For Obama, it may add a little weight to crucial swing states such as Ohio and Iowa. Here's the full letter for all you political music completists out there:
