Spastic Canadian electro pop duo Crystal Castles have a new album, called (III), set to drop on Nov. 12, so the Dark Princess of Goth Pop that is singer Alice Glass is making the press rounds. She's also making for some juicy, juicy headlines. In a recent Q&A with NME, Glass took aim at Katy Perry, Mitt Romney and the mainstream pop world and its depiction of women.
"She sells sex to children," Glass said of Perry. Yep. Juicy.
Continued Glass: "The mainstream hates women... a lot of kids are more sexualized now than they were years ago and I'm not sure it's a coincidence... Like f-cking Katy Perry spraying people with her f--king d-ck, her f--king cum gun coming on f--king children. And little girls, like six-year-old girls wearing a shirt with 'I wanna see your [pea] cock' on it... Don't prey on vulnerable people like that. Don't encourage little girls to get dressed up, to have cupcakes on their t-ts to get people to lick them off, 'cause that's what you're insinuating."
She also dropped her two cents on Mitt Romney, saying that if he won the election it would "take women back decades."
"Even now some of the abortion clinics have been shut down and it's putting women in danger," she said. "They've got to cross the border into Mexico to get abortions. And that hasn't happened since the '60s."
What does the fight against the mainstream and its treatment of women sound like? Well, suspiciously like rap music produced on the ice planet Hoth from Star Wars. "Affection," the latest tease of (III) which dropped just today, is all banging beats and synths, with Glass' piercing icicle vocals. Listen above.
