A YouTube cover of Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass" shot Karmin to stardom just over a year ago, but today the rap-happy pop duo are poised to overtake their A-list influence in a competition for the best music video of 2012. If that happens, there are gonna be some very unhappy Barbz out there.

Karmin's "Brokenhearted" video is neck-to-neck with Minaj's "Starships" clip in our Top 40 of 2012 poll. Even though "Starships" fared better on the charts (peaking at No. 5 on the Hot 100 versus 16 for Karmin's hit) and Nicki is clearly the bigger star, Karmin could outperform her in the digital realm. After all, the engaged couple have an active online fanbase—enough to propel the duo to Rolling Stone's cover for the fan-chosen "Women Who Rock" September issue.

But with both artists at 50% in our Top 40 of 2012 poll, the choice is up to you and your votes. So if you really want to see Karmin best Minaj—or if you think Nicki needs to maintain her throne—head over here and get clicking.
