Rolling Stones Memorabilia Auctioned Off by Ronnie Wood's Ex-Wife
Those with a penchant for Rolling Stones memorabilia and a massive amount of disposable income must have been elated over the weekend, as Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood's ex-wife Jo sold off hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of Stones collectibles in Beverly Hills.
According to Reuters, the collection included clothes, tour paraphernalia and guitars, including Wood's 1955 Fender Stratocaster guitar ($60,800), a white leather coat ($8,960) and a cardboard guitar cutout given to Wood by Keith Richards ($6,875),
As people are wont to do with ex-spouses, Wood distanced himself when the auction was announced in September, claiming he had nothing to do with the sale. But the auction house selling Wood's stuff claimed that the items were jointly owned and sold as part of the couple's divorce settlement.
The couple were married for 23 years before finalizing their divorce in 2011, over allegations that Wood cheated on Jo. In strangely coincidental news, Rolling Stone reported today that Wood just got engaged to 34-year-old theater producer Sally Humphreys.
Amid all the acrimony there's a happy ending: Part of the proceeds go to MusiCares, a charity helping people in the music industry with addiction issues.
