Crystal Castles' Alice Glass Inspired Jessica Chastain's ‘Mama’ Character
Red-haired Zero Dark Thirty actress Jessica Chastain’s latest film, Mama, ruled theatres hard this weekend, raking in over 33 million at the box office to push it to No. 1. Bravo! But perhaps Chastain should send a “thank-you” bottle of bubbly to a certain electro goth-rocker for helping it reach the top spot—and that’d be Crystal Castles singer Alice Glass!
Glass helped inspire Chastain's character, a wannabe punk musician named Annabel. Check out Annabel's jet-black bowl cut, tattoos and black top—look familiar?
Chastain explained to MTV News: “[Director Andy Muschietti] sent me pictures of Alice Glass. I thought, 'Oh, my God. She's so rad. That’s a great idea for the character.' We started with the hair, thinking 'Alice Glass.'”
And it worked! So, if Alice Glass can inadvertently take a movie to No. 1, then what other rockers are just waiting to inspire a hit film?
