We already know Beyonce is flawless, infallible, peerless and myriad other adjectives for "perfect." And that's exactly why we can't wait to dig into her Life is But a Dream documentary, premiering Saturday, February 16 on HBO.
Directed by Beyonce herself, the doc is said to be the first real glimpse into the other side of B—the side that's not always well-manicured and perfectly coiffed. Billboard caught a screening of Life is But a Dream at the New York premiere this week, and it looks like fans are about to discover a lot about the non-mega star attributes of Beyonce.
1. B opens up about her father. Beyonce fired her father, Mathew Knowles, as her manager before the release of her last album, 4. We're not sure if that was the reason for the professional split, but it probably didn't help. "I feel like my soul has been tarnished," Bey says about cutting managerial ties with her father, which is a central focus of the film.
2. Beyonce reveals her makeout music. And... it's a Beyonce song. (But not the one we picked.) During one scene talking directly to the camera, B reveals her stress reliever: "I need to listen to 'Make Love to Me' [referring to '1+1'] and make love to my husband."
3. Even Beyonce got morning sickness. So she is human after all. Her performance at the 2011 Billboard Awards was her first since learning she was pregnant. During rehearsals, B had to run out of the room to settle her nausea.
4. B got her hair done immediately after giving birth. So that's why those first photos of Blue Ivy were so beautiful. Beyonce's mother, a former hair stylist, is filmed putting curlers in her daughter's hair in the delivery room. You can take the Beyonce out of the limelight...
