Rihanna Debuts Fashion Line in London
If anyone knows how to fashionably accentuate nipples, whether on the red carpet or not, it has to be Rihanna.
So it was with great anticipation that crowds showed up at her runway show at London Fashion Week, where Rihanna debuted the line she designed for the British retailer River Island.
The show began an hour late (not a surprise) and the stage resembled Rent’s theater set design with metal scaffolding. Rihanna's behind-the-scenes preview had given an early glimpse at the clothes, but the presentation showed models wearing high-slit skirts, midriff tops, leather trucker hats and chunky fake jewels, Vogue reports.
And many of the pieces were, naturally, a little out there, including transparent summer clothes. There were also flowery long dresses with high slits and tiny bra tops that could be worn under see-through blouses or matched with bikini bottoms. Take a peek at a few of her racy looks here.
The “Stay” singer told members of the press that she wanted to produce a "timeless" collection. "I love the things you can wear now or in 10 years and it does not have an era attached to it," Rihanna told The New York Times.
When asked if she herself would drop her hemlines to her ankles, Rihanna responded: "Well, you know, it is a little sheer and I like the split. I can do a head-to-toe, but I’ll put a little 'freak' in there."
To get your own RiRi look, head to Opening Ceremony, where the collection will go on sale next month.
