Hear M83's Epic Title Track for Tom Cruise's Sci-Fi Movie 'Oblivion'
In June, we learned that French electronica darlings M83 were scoring Oblivion, a new sci-fi flick starring Tom Cruise and directed by Joseph Kosinski, the guy responsible for recruiting Daft Punk to score Tron: Legacy. The stars were aligned and expectations high. Today, the film's title track arrive online—and it's EPIC.
The super-cinematic "Oblivion" combines soaring synthesizers, electronica loops and regal trumpets with Norwegian singer Susanne Sundfør's ethereal vocals, which carries the 4:30 track to its piano and cello outro. This could certainly be her big break stateside. What do you guys think?
"Oblivion" follows the first taste of M83's score, the celestial and instrumental track "StarWaves." Listen below. The full soundtrack arrives April 9; the film hits theaters on April 19.
