New Weezer Cruise Boasts Beach Concert on Private Island
Those bitterly disappointed by the cancellation of Sugar Ray's '90s nostalgia cruise can stop moping around and saving all that money, because a different (and a much better) veteran alt-rock act is slated to set sail in 2014.
The second Weezer cruise will cast off from Florida and tour the Caribbean from February 13-17 next year, following the success of the band's high seas adventures back in 2012. The Weez are slated to play three shows, one of which is (seriously) a beach party on a private island. Yes, that means your wildest dreams/darkest nightmares will finally come to pass when you find yourself on a remote island with no one else but Rivers Cuomo and his geek-chic followers.
The rest of the 2014 Weezer cruise lineup has yet to be unveiled, so distraught Sugar Ray singer Mark McGrath may still get the chance to serenade fans on the Seven Seas. Tickets start at $599 a pop, but keep in mind the entrance fee includes a photo session for every cruise guest with Weezer. That ain't too shabby.
