“"She was even better than I imagined in person. She’s so incredibly down to earth."”
Despite releasing her mammoth-selling 21 album in early 2011 and staying relatively quiet this year, ELLE still felt it necessary to slap Adele on the cover of their annual Women in Music issue. Inside the mag, Britney Spears and Katy Perry penned "love letters" to the British soul singer and we now have Britney's!
“Her voice is just not like any other voice out there," begins the former X Factor judge. "It draws the emotion out of you. A lot of her songs kind of put me in a trance." (Oh, so maybe she was recovering from an Adele listening sesh when asked about Annette Funicello's death.)
"We were both at the VMAs, and they were like, ‘Do you want to meet Adele?’ And I was like, ‘Um, yes!'" she continued to gush. "She was even better than I imagined in person. She’s so incredibly down to earth. You can tell she hasn’t gotten caught up in that pop music machine thing—which is easy to get caught in—and she hasn’t just listened to what executives were telling her to do. All of her stuff is hers, and that’s really amazing.”
That's a bit of an ironic statement from Spears, given she's one of the world's biggest pop stars with millions upon millions of albums sold thanks to "that pop music machine thing." But brushing past that tiny detail, the note is genuinely heartwarming. Do we foresee a playdate for the young mommies coming soon?
