HAIM Cover the Strokes' "I'll Try Anything Once"
When Los Angeles sister group HAIM swung by Sirius XMU radio last month, they tackled a Strokes b-side from 2006. The song was "I'll Try Anything Once," the early, eerier version of "You Only Live Once" that the NYC Kings of Cool eventually released on its own for British fans.
Although their version might not make you forget the original, they bring a crisp 808 rhythm to it and a synth organ that makes the Strokes song seem even more like an '80s throwback. And making the Strokes sound more nostalgic for a bygone era is an achievement in itself. Listen to it above.
