Mykki Blanco Channels Lauren Bacall In "Feeling Special" Video
Lit by the haze of a sultry, ominous red light, the latest music video from Mykki Blanco stars both the gender-blurring rapper and her other half, performance artist Michael David Quattlebaum Jr.
The "Feeling Special" clip is inspired by the film noirs of Lauren Bacall and continues Blanco's fetish for in-car music videos. But beyond that, it's up to you what to make of a scenario that shows Quattlebaum himself rapping his alter ego's part while she gyrates on the hood of the car and crawls across the pavement in lingerie and long red gloves.
Although nothing sinister happens in the video, a sense of dread pervades that's a perfect fit for this minimalist, eerie rap track with lyrics like "I'm hip hop's Osama" and "follow me down the rabbit hole." Watch the video at District MTV and stay tuned for her upcoming Betty Rubble: The Initiation EP.
