Obama Cracks Jay-Z Joke at White House Correspondents' Dinner
Much fanfare has been made about the President Obama's friendship with rap empresario Jay-Z. Most recently the topic exploded when Republican lawmakers got their feathers all ruffled over Jay-Z and Beyonce's anniversary trip to Cuba.
And when you're Jay-Z and people are attacking you, you do the thing you do best: address all the haters through a new song mentioning how tight you are with the President.
But when you're the President of the United States, you gotta do what you do best: distance yourself from the whole controversy (especially when you really had nothing to do with it in the first place).
Last night, at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, Obama laughed the whole thing off with a delicious zinger incorporating H.O.V.A.'s hit song:
"Some things are beyond my control. For example, this whole controversy about Jay-Z going to Cuba—it's unbelievable. I've got 99 problems and now Jay-Z is one."
Zing! Watch the president make his crack in the video below.
This was not the first time Obama has taken a stab at "99 Problems."
In September of last year he released a campaign ad (this one was directed at former rival Mitt Romney) that included this treasure:
"99 Problems but Mitt ain't one/ With all your bank problems I feel bad for you, son/ I got 99 problems but Mitt's not one/ Hit me."
Throw in another MC Hammer tribute and we might just have a President Obama: Greatest Hits album on our hands!
