Time magazine's annual list of the 100 most influential people has arrived!
The list was broken into different categories: Jay-Z, who landed one of seven covers (above), was listed in the "Titans" category alongside pop savant Scooter Braun (who manages Justin Bieber, Carly Rae Jepsen, The Wanted and Psy). Hova's wife Beyonce and Justin Timberlake, meanwhile, were named as "Icons." Christina Aguilera, Frank Ocean and Miguel were honored as "Artists."
Each entry featured a blurb of praise written by another influencer. New York mayor Michael Bloomberg honored Hova, writing that the Brooklyn native "never lets go of his dream, makes it to the top—and then keeps going." [Jay-Z] proved that the American Dream is alive and well," Bloomberg wrote.
Moulin Rouge! and Great Gatsby director Baz Luhrmann wrote about Beyonce: "When she does anything, it's an event, and it's broadly influential." Stevie Wonder wrote that J.T. "does God’s work through using the most of his talent"; Celine Dion called Xtina "one of the most talented artists the world has ever seen and heard"; John Legend said Ocean "has the talent, the ability and the brilliance to have an impact for a long time"; and music journalist Douglas Wolk wrote that Miguel is changing the way R&B sounds.
