This Nile Rodgers Playlist Is Like the History of Disco and Dance
You may not know Nile Rodgers' name, but you've definitely danced to at least one of his songs. As the co-founder of iconic disco band Chic, Rodgers is responsible for disco classics "Everybody Dance," "Le Freak" and "Good Times," the latter kickstarting hip hop when it was sampled for Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight."
Later, he'd produce classic albums for Madonna (Like a Virgin), David Bowie (Let's Dance) and Duran Duran (Notorious) and recently linked up with Adam Lambert for "Shady" and Daft Punk for "Get Lucky." The Nile Rodgers career-spanning playlist below is like delving into the history of disco and funk, starting with Chic's first single "Dance, Dance, Dance" up to those French robots. Enjoy.
