Thieves Pull Off Elaborate Heist at Justin Bieber's South African Concert
There are certain things you can rely on happening at a Justin Bieber concert. Tweens will scream, parents will reluctantly overpay for tour t-shirts and cell phones will fly into the air to snap pics approximately every three seconds. You don't, however, expect an Ocean's 11-style heist to go down during a Bieber show.
But that's exactly what happened in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Sunday when a group of still-at-large thieves busted into a safe and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The details of the heist are about as Hollywood as it gets. After entering a women's restroom, the thieves climbed into the ceiling and chiseled through a double-thick wall. After that, they descended into the safe using a rope and made off with cash taken in from the stadium's concession sales that night. And all this went down in spite of the 900 security guards at work and 94,000 Beliebers present.
If pulling off that feat without prior knowledge of the venue seems suspiciously improbable, well, the Johannesburg police are way ahead of you. Police suspect it's an inside job and the stadium's management told reporters they believe authorities will have arrested the thieves within the next 48 hours.
In the meantime, Hollywood studios can begin vying for the rights to this story.
