David Lynch Taps Lykke Li for Latest Creepy Musical Creation
After a few forays into music over the years, famously bizarre filmmaker David Lynch released a full-length debut album at age 65 in 2011. Crazy Clown Time was about as loony as the title would suggest, but it did feature an unqualified victory in the form of "Pinky's Dream," a surreal nightmare featuring Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs on vocals.
Now we have our first taste of his just-announced second album, The Big Dream, in the form of this Lykke Li collabo, "I'm Waiting Here." The Swedish singer-songwriter imbues an ethereal innocence in Lynch's eerie version of a girl group ballad. This track could easily be a Twin Peaks leftover, which is a very high compliment.
Listen above and get excited/confused over the fact that Lynch is covering Bob Dylan ("The Ballad of Hollis Brown" from The Times They Are A-Changin') on his upcoming July 16 LP.
