Dev Hynes Takes on Drake's "Hold On We're Going Home"
Like much of Dev Hynes' catalog, Drake's smooth, synth ballad "Hold On We're Going Home" recalls the post-New Wave dance-pop that dominated much of the early 1980s. Hynes, who has recorded as Lightspeed Champion and Blood Orange and written songs for Florence and the Machine and Chemical Brothers, takes on the new Drake track, with the explanatory title, "HAVIN' A LAFF WHILE SAMANTHA IS ASLEEP ON A WEDNESDAY NIGHT." Hynes doesn't change the song's original structure too much, but augments the original with some nice bedroom-ready electric guitar. Take a listen above.
