Charli XCX Releases "SuperLove," the Sequel to Top 10 Hit "I Love It"
Despite co-writing and guesting on Icona Pop's smash single "I Love It," Charli XCX hasn't yet found chart-topping success all her own: The UK singer's solo singles haven't cracked the Billboard Hot 100, and her major label debut True Romance didn't break the Billboard 200. But all that could change with "SuperLove," the just-released single that Charli is calling the sequel to "I Love It."
"Let's just say I was in a similar mind frame," she said of the dance-pop single. "It's a mix of the Icona Pop track...and Lolita-esque bratty French girls and other girl power heroines."
If you think the single is addictive, wait 'til you watch its accompanying video. Shot in Tokyo, the visual sees the 21-year-old writhing on arcade games, dancing with robots and riding with a biker gang in the neon-lit city streets and beyond.
With "SuperLove" as its kickoff single, Charli's sophomore record should arrive as soon as March, 2014. But before then, expect to hear Charli's songwriting skills on the new Britney Spears album.
