Lady Gaga Unveils Flying Dress at 'ARTPOP' Release Party
Lady Gaga took over the Brooklyn Navy Yard in New York on Sunday night for ARTRAVE, which we're pretty sure is the Lady Gaga way to say "ARTPOP release party." The pop star's third album hits stores today (November 11), and the "Do What U Want" singer celebrated by performing several of the album's songs. She also showed up in a flying dress.
It's called "VOLANTIS," and it's not so much a dress as it is a really expensive battery-powered hovercraft.
"I wanted to make today about something even more important to me," Gaga said about the dress. "And what that something is, is the youth of the world. [Dress engineer] Benjamin and [designer] Nancy are here with me today. Their minds are just so boundless. They are so inspiring. Although [VOLANTIS] is a vehicle, she is essentially a metaphor for me. I will be a vehicle today for their voices... Youth all over the world."
Check out video of VOLANTIS in action below, and head over to VEVO to watch the ARTRAVE in full.
