U2 Release "Ordinary Love" From Idris Elba-Starring 'Mandela' Biopic
U2 are back with "Ordinary Love," their first new song in four years. No, it's not a single from their upcoming Danger Mouse-produced album—which is expected to drop in spring of 2014—but rather their contribution to a Nelson Mandela biopic starring Idris Elba (The Wire, Pacific Rim, the Thor series).
Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom has a limited U.S. release on November 29, but you can listen to U2's "Ordinary Love" in full on their Facebook page right now. As you might expect, the song is a heartfelt, sweeping ode to the inspirational living legend, who, like so many living legends, happens to be one of Bono's personal friends.
Listen to it here and ask yourself if U2 aren't a shoo-in for the Best Original Song Oscar this time around (their contribution to Scorsese's Gangs of New York lost to Eminem's "Lose Yourself").
