With a new year comes new faces at Fuse News, Fuse's nightly music news program. Hailing from Chester UK, Georgie Okell joins Fuse News starting January 6, after the show's winter hiatus.
"As a fan of Fuse News, I could not be more excited to join the family. The show delivers an unmatched dedication to exploring the most important stories in the world of music and to showcasing the entire culture surrounding the industry," said Okell. "I look forward to showing people every aspect of an industry I'm fascinated by, and taping Fuse News in the heart of Manhattan every day, right next to Madison Square Garden, is pretty amazing."
Okell is no stranger to the music and entertainment biz; After being approached by British TV Channel 4 in 2010 to host weekend pop culture program T4, she also went on to host the network's Freshly Squeezed, a music-based breakfast show. Recently she hosted and co-produced a live online talk show The Fox Problem.
Okell currently lives here in NYC where she DJ's, hosts East Village Radio's music show Pop Goes the Future, and contributes to VICE magazine.
Unfortunately with our warm welcome of Okell, we say goodbye to the amazing Alexa Chung, an original Fuse News Anchor. After helping launch the show Chung has decided to move on, making Dec. 19 her final show.
"With Fuse News, I am proud to have played an integral role in the launch of the only show on television committed to delivering credible and insightful music news. I've had the opportunity to interview some of my favorite artists, attend music festivals, and work with incredible people on a program that's very special to me," said Alexa Chung.
"We are excited to welcome Georgie to the Fuse News family and have no doubt, with Georgie’s tremendous background and knowledge of music, that she is the right person to continue building on our commitment to delivering informed, credible music news,” said Audrey Gruber, executive producer, Fuse News. "We are grateful for Alexa's many contributions throughout the launch and development of the show. We wish her the very best in her future endeavors, and hope to see her make appearances on Fuse in the future."
