Lorde Announces North American Tour, Addresses Gollum Comparisons
New Zealand singer Lorde has had one of the biggest years of any musician in 2013, with "Royals" earning massive critical acclaim and becoming the singer's first No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. Her 2014 shows no signs of slowing down, as the singer announced a new string of North American dates.
The 16-date tour begins March 3 in Austin, making its way through New York as one of Roseland Ballroom's last shows before ending March 26 in Oakland.
In a Reddit AMA over the weekend, the singer, who recently told Fuse about her "low tolerance for stupid people," announced that she'll be hitting the U.S. festival circuit as well, but did not disclose which ones she'll be attending.
As MTV News points out, her AMA also discussed what is clearly the most important thing about her: her remarkable onstage similarity to Lord of the Rings' Gollum (moves-wise, not looks).
"I know when I'm onstage, I don't think about how it looks, I just concentrate on really feeling what I hear," she wrote. "But I totally know I look like Gollum when I perform, so it's cool."
The singer ended 2013 with the release of her latest video, the post-apocalyptic "Team."
