Sam Smith Worked at Bar Last Year, Now He's At the GRAMMYs

Sam Smith is on a projectile path towards musical domination, both for his work with UK garage/house duo Disclosure and as a fledgling solo artist.

He may be the recent winner of a BRIT award, but it hasn't always been this way, he tells Fuse News from the Red Carpet.

"I worked in a bar last year, so it's nice not to be in a bar," Smith says.

"I remind myself every day."

Speaking of reminders, he tells us that he keeps his BRIT (he won the Critics' Choice Award) in his room so he can "stare at it every morning."

Tonight he's pulling for his collab partners in Disclosure to take home a GRAMMY—they're nominated for Best Dance/Electronica Album.

But even if his pals don't win tonight, the future is looking quite bright. The soulful tenor says his first solo LP In the Lonely Hour is due out June 3rd in the States and a tour is set to follow.

While you wait on Lonely Hour's release, step into the particularly sinful side of Sin City in his recently released vid for single "Money On My Mind."
