With the biggest-selling song of 2013 and his first No. 1 album, Robin Thicke's career is stronger than ever. Sadly, the same can no longer be said for his love life. After 20 years together, Thicke and his wife Paula Patton announced they're separating.
"We will always love each other and be best friends," the pair said in a statement of their impending divorce. "However, we have mutually decided to separate at this time."
Thicke met Patton, two years his senior, at the ripe age of 14. The two were high school sweethearts, dating since Thicke was just 16 years old. The singer-actress couple married in 2005 and welcomed son Julian Fuego in April 2010.
Despite a controversial year for the blue-eyed soul singer, the couple made their support for one another very public. Thicke revealed Patton was the inspiration behind "Blurred Lines," telling the BBC, "I wrote it about my wife. She's my good girl. And I know she wants it, because we've been together for 20 years." For her part, Patton came to the defense of the singer's controversial 2013 VMA performance with Miley Cyrus, claiming it wasn't a big deal.
R.I.P. to the Thicke-Pattons... they made us believe in high school sweethearts. Their legacy will remain as hot-and-heavy couples in Thicke's videos like "Love After War" and "Lost Without U" (below).
