Weezer Return to the Studio, Tease 9th Album
UPDATE: Weezer teased their ninth album again, this time with a 55-second clip (above) promising that "vicious, awesome guitars" are integral to the upcoming LP. Sounds good to us!
It's been four years since Weezer's last full-length, Hurley (something about the reference to the television show Lost makes it feel especially dated.) With the exception of this year's Weezer cruise, everything at camp Cuomo has been silent, until today.
The band released a 20-second video on YouTube, opening with what appears to be a new Weezer song and images of the guys in the studio. The clip is grainy, filtered to look like it was recorded on analog film. It ends with the words "in the studio now" jotting across the screen, leaving little to the imagination.
Alternative Press reports that the record will be produced by Ric Ocasek of the Cars (also the man behind both 1994's Blue Album and 2001's Green Album) and should be out later this year.
Here's hoping they titled the new album Weezus.
