Though Ciara's pregnancy—which is almost over, as she just hit the 8-month mark—made up the bulk of the conversation, Ciara got pretty candid about her plans for her career, parenting and whether her son is going to join the family business.
Ciara got her start at an early age, with Goodies dropping pretty close to her high school graduation, and her son won't necessarily take the same path. “It’s a really hard world,” she says of the industry. “If that’s what their heart yearns for, then I’m down. I believe in allowing your child to be who they want to be—as long as they want to be something great.”
Apparently, that parenting wisdom came from Kim Kardashian, who threw Ciara a baby shower back in March and has been great with mommy-to-mommy tips.
Still, music is the lifeblood of her love for Future, as their relationship began at work. “Music is a place where we have a very strong connection,” she tells W. “We created ‘Body Party,’ and that song created something else—and that’s why we’re here."
Ciara's about to face a few major life changes, but she's hardly straying from the studio: first comes baby, then comes new album, then comes her wedding to Future. She tells W that her upcoming album is in the works and should be ready for release "really soon," and that it's going to be the best thing she's put out to date.
We're stoked for Ciara, Future and baby, and we're even more thrilled that their son isn't the only special delivery in Ciara's immediate future.
