One year ago, Miley Cyrus the "artist" was seen as a one-hit wonder or an outright joke. But after several smash hits and her postponed, controversial Bangerz tour, Miley Cyrus is now one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People alongside much more respected artists like Pharrell, Carrie Underwood and Beyonce herself.
In Time's Miley article written by her godmother Dolly Parton, the country icon defends and chides Miley for her recent public behavior.
"If I didn’t know how smart and talented Miley is, I might worry about her," Parton wrote. "She was very proud of the work she did as Hannah Montana, but people were gonna leave her there forever. And she was just smotherin’ and chokin’ in it. So she felt she had to do something completely drastic."
One year of batsh-t insanity later, Dolly is hoping Cyrus will tone it down now that the world is paying attention: "I’m hoping that now she can relax and show people how talented she really is. ’Cause the girl can write. The girl can sing. The girl is smart. And she doesn’t have to be so drastic."
Miley, consider yourself warned.
