Drake Honors Football Wunderkind Johnny Manziel on "Draft Day"
With the NFL draft just around the corner, Drake released a breezy new song last night, aptly called "Draft Day." The opening line shouts out former Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel (who also serves as the cover art) and pays homage to the Oakland A's, record deals and one-hit wonders. We also learn that Drake, like everyone else, is a big-time Jennifer Lawrence fan. "You can get really get it, for real girl," he bluntly states.
The track also samples Lauryn Hill's biggest solo hit, "Doo Wop (That Thing)," and makes fun of Chance the Rapper's name with the barb, "If I left sh-t to chance I would've chosen a name like Chance the Rapper." Burn?
The song follows "Call on Me," a new song he performed two weeks ago in Birmingham, England. Stream "Draft Day" below:
