Mastodon fans dying for new riffs are in luck. The Atlanta-based stoner-metal band have released "High Road," the first track from their new album Once More Round the Sun. As the title suggests, it's a blazing affair that features Brent Hinds passionately declaring that if you take the high road down he'll "take the road below you."
Over the last several years, the band has become one of metal's premier acts, so new material is always in demand. Bassist Troy Sanders recently told Paste the new album "is all over the world as far as themes go. I’ve had a lot of time to ingest this record, and it’s solid," he said. "It’s a large slab of granite. I’m once again completely proud of these guys.”
Once More Round the Sun is out is due out this June. The band hits the road for a coast-to-coast club tour starting April 28 at Seattle's Showbox.
