Tonight, Nirvana will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and to get us excited, both Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic appeared on The Tonight Show last night, where they shared a handful of old, grunge-y stories.
"That first tour we did, we were booked in places that held 90 people, 150 people," Grohl recalled. "We'd pull up in our van and the ["Smells Like Teen Spirit"] video was on MTV. We'd pull up and there were so many people trying to get into the show. Even when we had a gold record, we were still in a van with a U-haul trailer."
Grohl also recounted the time they were on Saturday Night Live and got a phone call from an unusual fan. "We were in the dressing room, and there was one girl, and she was like 'my friend Weird Al wants to talk to you,' Grohl said. "He called in and asked if he could do the "Teen Spirit" parody. We said 'yes, of course, it's Weird Al Yankovic.'"
Novoselic was a bit more sentimental with his memories. "He was this weird kid and I was this weird kid," he recalled of their time spent together in high school. "We gravitated towards each other."
