ABC is getting in on the singing competition bandwagon! The television network will launch Rising Star on Sunday, June 22 at 9 p.m. Earlier today the show announced its all-star lineup of judges, including the now dollar sign-less Kesha, Ludacris and Josh Groban.
This ain't American Idol, though. The concept is a little different—a singer performs in front of a giant video wall, separating him or her from the audience. Viewers vote using a smartphone app in real time. Photos of the fans flash periodically on the screen to show they're really involved. When the singer reaches a certain number of votes, the screen lifts, revealing the audience. Quite literally a "rising" star!
