Update 5/7: Billboard reports that a suspect has been arrested for the robbery of American Idol winner Scotty McCreery earlier this week. Nineteen-year-old Mikkail Jamal Shaw has been charged with armed robbery and conspiracy; the suspect turned himself in on Tuesday evening. Police are still looking for four other suspects.

5/5 Story: American Idol season 10 winner Scotty McCreery was robbed at gunpoint early Monday morning in a Raleigh, NC condo.

The country crooner was at a friend's place when three armed men broke in before 2 am and made off with personal possessions as well as electronics from the apartment. No one was reported hurt, but wallets, money and cellphones were taken.

Earlier today, McCreery released a statement about the incident, describing it as "a very scary night."

"I will share more when the time is right," he said. "But as of now we don't want to do or say anything that could hinder the investigation. A huge thanks to the Raleigh PD for their quick response and hard work in solving this case."

The condo is located near North Carolina State University, where McCreery is a sophomore.

His latest album is 2013's See You Tonight, which hit No. 1 on the Billboard Country charts.
