'The Voice' Reveals Season 6 Winner
Season 6 of The Voice has a winner! The title goes to powerhouse soul singer Josh Kaufman, a 38-year-old Indianapolis native. The SAT tutor and married father of three claimed the highest viewer votes over competitors Jake Worthington, 18, and Christina Grimmie, 20, in the two-hour season finale on Tuesday night.
Kaufman told Carson Daly after the announcement, "I can't even talk. I'm overwhelmed, surprised, happy, relieved." Awwww!
OneRepublic opened the season finale, which also featured performances by Coldplay, Tim McGraw, Ed Sheeran and Robin Thicke, who duetted with Kaufman.
After the show, Kaufman's coach Usher told reporters, "This is definitely a great way to close Season 6. It obviously gives a great reason and logic to come back and defend the title, but more than that, to change the idea of what type of winner and what it takes to win, the type of songs you choose. Josh put up an incredible performance and fight. He's a shining example of what you can do if you have determination, passion and commitment." For a taste of Kaufman's style, watch his pyrotechnics-laden performance of Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain" below.
Judges Blake Shelton and Adam Levine will return next season with newcomers Pharrell Williams and Gwen Stefani. We can't wait!
