Ed Sheeran Raps His Feelings In "The Man"
You when a fender-bender happens on the highway and you can't help but slow down and look when you pass the wreckage? That's kind of how it feels to listen to Ed Sheeran's "The Man" all the way through, because yeeeesh, this track from X is chock full of emotional rubble. (The fact that he raps through most of it doesn't help his cause, either.)
We may be wide-eyed over the failed relationship he details over the verses, but we're kind of distracted by the way in which he delivers it.
Sample lines: "Tragically, our love just lost the will to live," "You promised your body but I'm away so much I stay more celibate than in a monastery," "I'm not cut out for life on the road, as I didn't know, I'd miss you this much / And that the time would just go, so sue me, I'm not the man you need," "When I broke the industry, I broke your heart."
This is a revealing look at Sheeran's work/life balance and dark one at that, and it's impossible to keep from rubbernecking over "The Man." Listen above.
