Minecraft Creator Shells Out $46K On Aphex Twin Test Pressing
Here's what inventing a popular video game gets you: fame, fortune, notoriety and the ability to spend $46,300 on a one-of-a-kind Aphex Twin test pressing.
That's what Markus "Notch" Persson, the creator of Minecraft, just did. Aphex Twin's unreleased 1994 album, Caustic Window, first surfaced on Discogs, then on Kickstarter, later on eBay. After over 100 bids, the only known physical copy of the records is in Persson's hands. Yup.
Really makes you think all diehard Twin fans are super-rich people with expensive tastes (in shimmery electronica). Or are just that—diehard. Nerds of the universe, rejoice!
