After winning the hearts of millions via Fuse's reality series Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce, Big Freedia is ready to give fans an even more intimate look at her unconventional rise to stardom. The New Orleans bounce musician is set to pen a memoir, tentatively titled Big Freedia: God Save the Queen Diva, for release sometime next year.
“My memoir will go in depth—nothing and no one will be spared, including me.”
A joint project with longtime publicist Nicole Balin, the book will give readers a detailed account of Freedia’s early life—from growing up as a gay Baptist in New Orleans and honing her performance skills as captain of the cheerleading squad to developing close, but competitive, relationships with fellow bounce artists Katey Red and Sissy Nobby. Freedia's various love relationships, as well as her bond with his mother, will also be spotlighted alongside the book's primary focus: how Freedia climbed her way to the top and found mainstream success as the worldwide ambassador for bounce.
“I know many people have come to know me through my TV show,” Big Freedia said. "But my memoir will go in depth—nothing and no one will be spared, including me.”
In addition to hitting the road for a fall tour, Freedia is gearing up for the third season of the recently renewed Big Freedia: Queen of Bounce, Fuse's most popular series ever.
