UPDATE: Fergie's new solo track and lead single off her highly anticipated second solo album dropped late Sunday night. Listen to the DJ Mustard-produced banger above and let us know what you think. Will this be a major comeback hit for the pop singer? We already have it on repeat!
ORIGINAL STORY: Fergie Ferg is back!
After the Black Eyed Peas singer confirmed she was at work on a new album in mid-August, the first taste of it is here. Listen to a snippet of "L.A. Love (La La)," featured as the final song in the Milan Fashion Week show for designer duo DSQUARED2. Catch the designers walk out to the track at the 11:55 mark of the show's video below. They already know the words so it must mean the track is finished and coming soon.
While the recording is somewhat low-quality, we're getting early indications of a banger from the former Wild Orchid member. There's a bumping, synth-heavy beat—at times, reminiscent to Iggy Azalea's No. 1 hit "Fancy"—that backs Fergie's sing/rap trade-off. An ode to Los Angeles, the chanteuse declares "L.A. got the people sayin'" before moving to an addictive "la-la-la-la-la" hook. It's already stuck in our heads.
It isn't the first time Fergie has paid homage to a city in a single. If you recall in 2006, the singer's first solo foray was with "London Bridge," a No. 1 hit, that came complete with a U.K. homage on the single cover.
"L.A. Love (La La)" will be hitting radio soon, according to industry insiders.
Welcome back, Fergie!
