Katy Perry to Rock Super Bowl XLIX Halftime Show, Teases Performance

UPDATE (11/24): Aaaaand it's officially official! Katy Perry made a quick announcement on Twitter confirming she'd be playing the Super Bowl XLIX halftime show, and the NFL quickly followed up with a press release

Sponsor Pepsi then dropped a video featuring the star teasing the show, which looks like it is shaping up to be a ridiculously awesome affair. Watch above for robots, wigs, fire-spitting sharks, mythological animals and loads of kittens. Consider us pumped.

Original Story (10/10/2014): Here she comes! Coming at us like a "Dark Horse," Katy Perry has been booked as the halftime performer for Super Bowl XLIX.

Sources have confirmed to outlets like Billboard and Variety that the Prism pop star is indeed slated to perform during the most-watched television show of the year. This year's Bowl will hit Glendale, Arizona's University of Phoenix Stadium sometime in February.

Curiously, Katy had just spoken about her possibility of playing the halftime show during an appearance on ESPN's College GameDay over the weekend. "I'm not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl," she said.

Well gosh darn, Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson. Apparently, you are!
