Marina and the Diamonds fans, REJOICE! Our princess of pop has returned, and the lead-off single from her new album, Froot, is just the catchy-as-hell single you've been waiting for. It's also Marina's birthday, so how sweet is it of her to give us a present when she should be the one scarfing cake and receiving gifts left and right?!
"Froot" is magically delicious and a continuation of the unabashedly adorable dance pop Marina's made her specialty. Maybe she's been listening to Arcade Fire's Reflektor on repeat, because we're picking up on disco vibes and '70s synths similar to the ones that made the Canadian indie band's latest record one of their best.
Looks go beneath the surface with Marina, too, so make note of "Froot"'s simple styling off the bat: We don't have a music video to work with just yet, but the intergalactic background and simple, bold colors could lead to some stellar visuals for the album. She's perpetually reinventing herself with crazy hair-dos and unpredictable wardrobe choices tied to the styling of her record's artwork, so maybe we'll see some space-y garb from Miss Marina throughout Froot's promotional cycle.
Marina throatily sings that "good things come to those who wait," so here's hoping we get more details about the follow-up to 2012's epic Electra Heart ASAP!
