The divas' collab is reminiscent of 2014's song of the summer, Iggy's seven-week No. 1 "Fancy," with the same stabby synths and finger snaps on the production (courtesy of "Fancy" and "Beg for It" producers the Invisible Men) and sassy, Charli XCX-esque chants that made it so damn addictive. The man-bashing lyrics might make it a little less appealing for the male demographic to blast out of their cars, though.
If "Pretty Girls" becomes a hit, it would be a much-needed career stimulus for both ladies. "Pretty Girls" is dripping with more personality than anything from Brit's 2013 album Britney Jean, her first record to fail to produce a Top 10 single. Plus, Iggy's music has been overshadowed by controversy and bad press lately as her latest single "Trouble" featuring Jennifer Hudson, stalled on the charts at No. 67. If "Pretty Girls" takes off, it could reignite the fire for both singers who are both much in need of boost. But is a "Fancy" part two the way to go about it?
Read on for everything else we know about the cut.
Update (12/15): It's coming...quick! Iggy Azalea gave a few more details about her upcoming Britney Spears collaboration and it appears like we'll have the track and, possibly, a new Britney album (!!!) sooner than later.
The MC gave an interview talking about her New Year's Eve plans in Las Vegas and how she hopes to meet the singer in person when she hits Britney: Piece of Me live while she's in town. "Hopefully I get to officially meet her because we have a song that's going to be her first single coming out next year," she said. "I still haven't got to really have a conversation with so I'm hoping New Year's will be the time to get her in a corner."
Iggy added that mutual admiration made the collab come to fruition. "She said that she would like to work with me in an interview and they kind of reached out," she continued. "We recorded a few different things and one of those ended up just being, I think, undeniably great. So hopefully, everybody will get to hear it at the beginning of next year." Original Story (11/21): No doubt about it: When it comes to female collaborations, Iggy Azalea is queen and proudly wearing that "Heavy Crown." Just this year, Iggy's linked up with..take a deep breath...Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande, Ellie Goulding, Charli XCX, Jennifer Hudson, Keyshia Cole, Rita Ora and MØ. But she's got yet another one, and it's BIG.
The MC is a big fan of Twitter and will often respond to fans directly. One lucky follower got a big surprise when he asked if the rapper would ever work with Britney Spears and she had this to say:
When pressed for more info like whether it was for Brit's album or Iggy's next disc, the star told a fan that she "can't say anymore info about it." Still, we're all giddy wondering if this will be the cherry on top of a year of amazing, girl-power collabos. We're ready!
