14 Best Covers & Parodies of Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off"

From the Denver Nuggets to Kendrick Lamar to the Victoria's Secret Angels, here's a handful of fresh takes on the '1989' hit

Steve Carell

When Peter Travers asked Steve Carell what music is "playing in [his] head," the funnyman looked straight into the film critic's eyes and delivered a deadpan version of "Shake It Off" from the chorus. The burst of song was out of nowhere and enough to force Travers into a fit of giggles, but Carell's pitch and voice? Not too bad!

The Denver Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets' dancers and mascot do most of the heavy lifting in this take-off of "Shake It Off," but the video really shines thanks to the 7-foot-tall basketball players attempting to gyrate to Taylor Swift. 'Cause the players gonna play, play, play, play, play... and dance with ribbon.

Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar stopped by DeDe in the Morning at Dallas' K104 to not only gush about "Shake It Off," one of his favorite songs of the moment, but to freestyle over its trumpeting melody. He had a list of words to work around (with "white girls" popping in right off the bat), and K. Dot was able to jump off the beat in no time.

Walk off the Earth

Despite the totally hair-raising instrument-hurling they mess around with in the clip, YouTube sensations Walk off the Earth do right by Taylor's single while sittin' pretty on a beach.

Senior citizens

Even grandmas gotta move! This "Shake It Off" parody features a bunch of groovin' grannies putting their senior spin on Swift's lyrics. "Our teeth may be fake, fake, fake, fake, fake / But we're just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake" has a nice ring to it.

Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan

Leave it to Live with Kelly and Michael to rock a heartwarmingly goofy shot-for-shot version of "Shake It Off"s video, complete with ribbon dancing and ballet costumes the Black Swan ballerinas would be jealous of.

The Big 10 Mascots

Bucky the Badger, Goldy Gopher, that creepy Ohio State mascot that has a nut for head...they all contribute to this compilation of Big 10 mascots re-enacting Swift's video. The award for best dance move goes to University of Nebraska's Lil' Red for bouncing on his inflatable skull.

Meghan Trainor

Meghan's heartfelt cover of "Shake It Off" involves a ukulele and some impromptu rapping, with her keeping things soft and unplugged, yet just as cheeky as her own smash "All About That Bass."

9 / 14

Barack Obama

Jimmy Fallon and the jokers over at The Tonight Show worked their supercut magic for a perfect, Presidential interpretation of "Shake It Off."

Though the lyrics of this particular parody are a bit of a stretch, how can anyone have a problem with dressing dogs up in costumes and filming them being adorable with a variation of "Shake It Off" blasting in the background?

Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson pulled a Hozier and took us to church with a rafter-raising gospel rendition of "Shake It Off." The tell-tale beat kicks in around 2:10, but before it does, Clarkson reaches the heavens with her incredible belt.

This soulful rendition of "Shake It Off" courtesy of Von Smith and Postmodern Jukebox might just be our favorite: Stunning vocals, incredible instrumentation and snazzy suits for the occasion? Taylor would totally approve.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson

Jesse Tyler Ferguson of Modern Family brought a musical theater vibe to the hit at a recent Trevor Project benefit, complete with cheesy choreography and excellent vibratto that any high school voice teacher would be proud of.

Victoria's Secret Angels

When Taylor Swift isn't performing "Shake It Off" for thousands of adoring fans, she's kicking it with BFF and model babe Karlie Kloss. The pair danced to the mega hit at the at this year's Victoria's Secret Show (Swift performed last year, too). The Angels loved it so much, they decided to film a cute lip sync video for the tune. Watch the adorable and sexy clip above!
