One Direction can add "social media mavens" to their repertoire. When they're not soothing crying babies with their soft croons or accidentally starring in six-figure fan fiction book deals, they're breaking Twitter records.

Billboard reports that for a while there, President Obama's historic "Four More Years" tweet, posted after his reelection, was the site's most retweeted tweet of all time. Fast forward two years and Ellen DeGeneres' now-iconic Oscars' selfie claimed the title. Apparently the British babes of 1D are on her trail, and a 2011 tweet from Louis Tomlinson to Harry Styles is taking over, beating out Obama's post as the runner-up.

The tweet in question reads, "Always in my heart @Harry_Styles . Yours sincerely, Louis." Check it out here!

Billboard adds that Tomlinson's tweet needs about two million more retweets to catch up to Ellen, but we're hoping the band's too-cute selfie with Jimmy Kimmel will gain some after-the-fact attention.
