For Blink-182 fans, this week has been particularly outrageous. Here's the he-said, he-said rundown: Radio.com published a statement from the band saying founding member Tom DeLonge quit indefinitely. DeLonge responded on Facebook, claiming the story was completely bogus. Rolling Stone then sat down with Blink's other two members, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker, who not only said DeLonge was liar, but called him "disrespectful and ungrateful." Tom retorted with yet another Facebook post, confirming his exit with "Never planned on quitting, just find it hard as hell to commit."
Phew. Okay. So: While Blink may not truly be Blink without DeLonge, some creative internet peeps have found a potential (and potentially insane) solution: A petition for rapper Riff Raff to take Tom's place.
It sort of make sense? Riff Raff is going on Warped Tour this year, so he's upping his pop-punk cred. He's got tattoos, he's got the bad boy attitude...are we sure he's not already in Blink-182? The petition's description reads, "We need a talented vocalist to fill the shoes of the late Tom DeLonge. Let us rise and declare Riff Raff new king of the Rock Show. Bless Tom's soul."
The document's looking for 500 signatures and is a little less than halfway there. If you happen to be down with the cause, throw down your e-John Hancock here.
